NEW 2024 STATE FIRE CODE - EFFECTIVE MAY 1, 2024 - Per the WV State Fire Marshal, there are several significant changes affecting the design, construction, remodel/renovation/repair, fire protection system installation, and inspection of buildings. ELECTRONIC PLANS SUBMITTAL AND REVIEW PROCESS - EFFECTIVE JANUARY 1, 2025 - Per the WV State Fire Marshal, implementation of the new Electronic Plans Submittal and Review process, as noted in the State Fire Code, Section 2.1.d, will be effective January 1, 2025. The new submission process will incorporate all architectural, mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection system drawings. Mission Statement

The Mission of the West Virginia State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers is to safeguard the life, health, property, and welfare of the public by regulating the practice of professional engineering. The Board accomplishes its Mission by:

  • Registering qualified individuals as professional engineers
  • Authorizing qualified firms to offer engineering services in the state
  • Anticipating changes in the engineering profession to ensure that the laws and regulations are contemporary, relevant, and responsive
  • Recommending regulations and legislation for the engineering profession
  • Promoting professional conduct among the engineering community
  • Enforcing the WV engineering laws and regulations
  • Providing information so the public can make informed decisions regarding utilizing professional engineering services.
